March Event: Snowpack Update

Analysis of Snowpack in the Jordan River Watershed

We’re excited to welcome Robert (Bob) Thompson, Professional Geologist, for an engaging and timely discussion about the current status of snowpack in the lower Jordan River watershed—and why it matters.

Bob will walk us through how data from organizations such as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Colorado Basin River Forecast Center (CBRFC), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Central Utah Water Conservancy District (CUWCD), and Salt Lake County is used to determine how much water is stored in our snowpack. He’ll also explain how this information helps water managers prepare for spring runoff and forecast its impacts on reservoir storage across the watershed.

Date: Tuesday, March 24
Time: noon - 1 p.m.
Where: Virtual  (See Virtual Meeting Information Below)
Cost: Free, no registration required

Whether you work directly in water resources or are simply curious about how our snowpack shapes Utah’s water future, this is a presentation you won’t want to miss.
