Attention Women of Water Enthusiasts,

I wanted to let you know that we’ve recently had a few Women of Water board members resign. Some folks moved, others changed jobs and others could no longer devote the time required. While we are sad to see them leave the board, we are happy that they all plan to remain active with the organization, and we sincerely thank them for everything they’ve done to help get WoW up and running.

Our exciting news is that we have had three people volunteer to take over the resigning board members’ positions. Our new board members were sworn in during our monthly board meeting on Tuesday, April 15th. The new board members include:

  • Rachael Peavler of MWH as Treasurer
  • Melissa Copfer of the Utah Division of Drinking Water as Secretary
  • Lizel Allen of Salt Lake County as Funding Director

Congratulations and thank you to our new board members! We look forward to getting to know you and using your help to move WoW forward.

We are still in need of volunteers! We are currently in need of an Activities Director as well as committee members for each of our four committees: Activities, Funding, Online/Communication and Mentoring/Outreach.

Please contact Christina at cosborn@jub.com if you are interested in serving on the WoW board as Activities Director. She can provide more details about the position. No experience is necessary!

At past events we have requested volunteers for our four committees. We are renewing our focus on each of these committees and could really use YOUR help. We would like to actively involve as many people in WoW committees as possible. Many hands make light work! Committees are a great way to meet other people and get involved. Please contact Christina at cosborn@jub.com for general committee information or the following people for specific committee interest:

  • Ruby Diaz formerly of MWH, outgoing Activity Director, for Activities committee, email: Ruby at rubyamdi@yahoo.com or Marie at MarieO@jvwcd.org. This committee plans and organizes events and activities. Whether its water/wastewater or personal growth related this committee hosts events. If you have an idea for an event or activity or would like to serve on the committee please contact Ruby or Marie.
  • Rachael Cassady of the Utah Division of Drinking Water, Online/Communication Director, for Online/Communication committee, email: rcassady@utah.gov. This committee makes posts to our social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, etc.) and helps keep our website/blog up-to-date. We are also looking for ideas for blog posts. If you have a recent project, innovation, research or other idea or would like to serve on the committee please contact Rachael.
  • Lizel Allen of Salt Lake County, Funding Director, for Funding committee, email: lizel.allen@gmail.com. This committee helps with fundraising ideas and events and has been active in seeking general support for WoW from industry leaders and managers. If you have a fundraising idea whether it’s seeking corporate donations, grants or individual donations or would like to serve on the committee please contact Lizel.
  • Jennifer Robinson of the Utah Division of Water Quality, Mentoring/Outreach Director, for Mentoring/Outreach committee, email: jenrobinson@utah.gov. This committee seeks to reach out to and mentor those in school (elementary, middle, high school, and university/college) as well as those younger professionals within WoW. Lots of opportunities have come our way, your help is needed in figuring out the best method to partner and who to partner with. Please contact Jennifer with your ideas and if you’d like to serve on the committee.

Thank you for your ongoing support! Our membership is approximately 30 and growing stronger every day. All yearly memberships purchased NOW are active through June 30, 2015.
