Utah Women's Leadership Announcements and Local Career Opportunities

We are excited to share a number of announcements from Dr. Susan Madsen, Professor of Leadership and Ethics at Utah Valley University.

  • The 10th Utah Women Stats research snapshot was recently released, titled “The Gender Wage Gap in Utah,” with co-authors Robbyn T. Scribner & Janika Dillion. The snapshot was made possible by the Utah Women’s Giving Circle and their grant to help fund the research behind this snapshot.

    1. Building Resilience in Girls and Young Women (Dr. Matthew J. Swenson, MD, Pediatric Psychiatrist, IHC) [for parents, educators, and other influencers]
    2. Rethinking Social Media: Finding Your Voice and Identity as Young Women (Sui Lang Liliu Pumehana Panoke, MPA, Founder of Women Politics Media) [for middle/high school and college students]
    3. Making the Glass Ceiling Visible: Unconscious Bias and Advancing Opportunities for Women (Dr. Kyle Reyes, PhD, Special Assistant to the President for Inclusion & Assistant Professor of Education) [for anyone interested in understanding their own bias more deeply]
    • The event is designed for women (12 years and older), and influencers (including men) are welcome to join us too! RSVP Online Now. The keynote and workshops will live stream as well for those who cannot get to UVU. Thanks to our fabulous event sponsors this year: Squire & Company, Utah Education Network, Steve & Bette Gibson Family, Business Resource Center in Orem, Center for the Advancement of Leadership (UVU), Women’s Success Center (UVU), and the Woodbury School of Business (UVU). Details on the Utah Women & Leadership Project homepage.

  • For women who are employed in Utah higher education settings, the Utah Women in Higher Education Network (UWHEN) is hosting three fall regional workshops at various colleges/universities. The first is scheduled at UVU on September 15th (1:00-3:30PM) and is titled, “Strengthening Our Impact by Understanding Women’s Negative Interactions with Each Other.” You can find more details and register here. UWHEN will be sending more details about their other 2 fall regional workshops including one at Western Governors University (Oct. 6) and another at Southern Utah University (Nov. 3).

  • The Women’s Leadership Institute has two upcoming events they would like us to announce:

    1. On August 31 they are hosting the Utah Women Charity Golf Classic at the Thanksgiving Point Golf Course. This is the perfect opportunity for the first-time golfer! You can golf with a group or take a clinic on how to chip, putt, and drive – taught by pros for $75.00. Register here.
    2. On October 12 (4-6pm) the AAUW and Luna will sponsor a negotiation workshop with the WLI (limited to 50). This is a free workshop taught by Ann House, the director of the Personal Money Management Center at the University of Utah. You can register here.
