Lead Free Learning Initiative Program Coordinator | Division of Drinking Water | Utah DEQ

The Division of Drinking Water at the Utah Department of Environmental Quality is looking for an individual with a passion and dedication for public health to lead the Lead Free Learning Initiative.

The Division is looking for a full-time temporary (two years) Program Coordinator to lead the lead-free school program. This is a grant funded position with benefits, $21 per hour, and reports directly to an Assistant Director.

The main responsibility of this position is to educate stakeholders and potential program participants of the risk to children from exposure to lead in drinking water, coordinate and track the testing of lead in water at schools and daycares, and help participants identify and implement measures to minimize drinking water lead exposure to children. This will be done through outreach and coordination with state and local health departments, counties, the State Board of Education, the State lab, school districts, and child daycare facilities.

The ideal candidate possesses a bachelor’s degree in science (e.g., chemistry, public health), has a couple of years of experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders, and has problem solving skills.
