August Event

Virtual Movie Club | Dark Waters

We have taken a page out of Oprah and Reese Witherspoon's books and are having our first ever book/movie club!  Please join us for this virtual event on August 25.

What: Movie Club - Dark Waters

When: Tuesday, August 25, 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Where: https://psomas.zoom.us/j/93597197620

We will be discussing the movie "Dark Waters" based on the 2016 New York Times Magazine article "The Lawyer Who Became DuPont's Worst Nightmare" by Nathaniel Rich.  The film is categorized as a "biographical psychological legal thriller" that tells the true story of a lawyer's case against DuPont for contaminating a town's water supply with unregulated chemicals, specifically PFOA.  PFOA is a forever chemical (does not leave the blood and slowly accumulates) that causes cancer, birth defects, and other diseases.  Please join us to discuss this amazing water story!

The movie, "Dark Waters", is available to rent on Prime Video, iTunes, Google Play, Microsoft, or Vudu.

If you are unable to watch the movie, we have provided links to several articles available online that discuss the legal case and contaminated water circumstances.
