Utah Women and Leadership Announcements

We are excited to share some announcements from Dr. Susan Madsen, Professor of Leadership and Ethics at Utah Valley University:

The next Utah Women’s Speaker & Dialogue Series event will be held on September 8th (6:00-8:30 pm) at Utah Valley University (see flyer). It is titled, “Learn to Lead Through Reaching Out.” The first half of the evening will feature the following four panelists: LaDawn Stoddard (Director, Utah Commission on Service & Volunteerism), Ally Isom (Director, Family & Community Relations LDS Public Affairs), Anne Burkholder (CEO, YWCA Utah), and Chris Bray (VP of Collective Impact Operations, United Way of Salt Lake).
Representatives from nonprofits, government, and other community organizations will be there to provide ideas and resources. Bring your phones and IPads to access interactive online tools. Women (12 years and older) are welcome to attend (men who support them can come too)! You can find more details on the UWLP homepage and can RSVP online now. Bring colleagues, youth groups, neighbors, and more!

The BYU Women’s Studies program, the WomanStats Project, and others have teamed up to host a 3-hour workshop titled “Women Have a Voice: A Workshop on How to Write for the Popular Press!” The workshop will take place on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 1-4 pm at Utah Valley University. It will be limited to 200 people and will have breakout sessions (see flyer). College and university students, faculty, and staff are invited, and also women from the community. RSVP online today.

The Women’s Leadership Institute has a number of events or programs coming up that you can register for online: 1) the Utah Women Charity Golf Classic is August 30, 2016, from 7:00am-1:00 pm.; 2) the next Political Development Series cohort starts soon and runs from Sept. 15, 2016 to February 16, 2017 (meets once each month); 3) ElevateHER Corporate Series (details coming soon at http://wliut.com/events/).

Finally, Utah Department of Commerce’s Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing has a number of public member vacancies on their boards and commissions (see the attached PDF for the list and details about how to apply). We definitely need more women serving on Utah boards and commissions, so think about applying for these or others (see our Board & Commission webpage).

Are we missing an upcoming event? Let us know and we will add it to the blog!
