This week, Maura Hahnenberger from Salt Lake Community College gave an excellent presentation on the iUtah WaterGirls program at the February UWOW Luncheon. Maura highlighted the needs within the greater Salt Lake City community to help
engage,
empower, and
educate young girls by introducing them to water science.

As part of the
iUtah project Maura created a program which targets students in middle schools (during a critical time when many female students lose interest in STEM fields) and allows them to have fun and meaningful experiences in local watersheds with their peers and with local female water scientists.
